Emmanuel delivers 300 backpacks to Youth on Fire

Emmanuel Church in West Roxbury has once again generously donated to Youth on Fire! This year we delivered 300 backpacks, up from 150 for the past two years. Emmanuel church was able to secure a $2100 grant from through the Deanery Grants of the Episcopal Diocese. Donations came through individuals with a few area businesses pitching in to help secure all of the items needed to fill the backpacks. Everyone came together on December 14th to stuff the backpacks and then delivery them by the end of that week.
Each Backpack contains:
Winter Hat, Winter Gloves, AA Batteries (4 pack), Rain Poncho, Socks Hand Warmers, Lip Balm. Flashlights, Toothbrush Toothpaste, Hand Sanitizer, Notebook, Pen, Heat Blanket

Youth on Fire: A program of AIDS Action, Youth on Fire is a drop-in center for homeless and street-involved teens and young adults offering basic necessities such as food, clothing, showers, and laundry, as well as weekly medical care, mental health counseling, referrals to community resources, and prevention information on HIV, STDs, Hepatitis C and other diseases associated with high-risk behavior.
